Tucked neatly in between such noted St Emilion producers as Pavie and Valandraud is Chateau Croix de Labrie. With a powerful combination of marvelous terroir and a winemaking team that includes Axelle Courdurié and Michel Rolland, this is an estate that is often mentioned in the same breath as Ausone and Angelus and with very good reason. With their meticulous attention to detail in the vineyards and cellar, Croix de Labrie has consistently produced some of the most opulent wines of Bordeaux.
Les Hauts de la Croix de Labrie is the estate’s third wine and it’s a perfect example of the house winemaking style. Black currant, black cherry, white truffle, forest floor, and crushed rock minerality all boost the expressive nose to great heights. A medium-bodied yet powerful wine with a thrilling texture thanks to silky tannins that coat the palate with pure pleasure. Long and stacked on the sultry finish, with uncommon power at this level, with fabulous fruit and grip too.
